Original grape from Bordeaux, France
Synonymes: Semillon Rouge, Merlau, Bigney.
Moderately vigorous variety, which resists general diseases, but is more susceptible to Noble Rot (Botrytis) than Cabernet Sauvignon.
It is also sensitive to spring frosts, and berries can fall off when over-ripe.
The wine outstands for its fine and soft taste, as well as its marked aromatic notes of fresh red fruit. It matches very well with Cabernet Sauvignon.
